Week One Pt 2

I wish to complete the brief that consists of a print-based advertising campaign for a new product including:

• A brand name design
• Two full-page magazine advertisements
• A billboard poster using original photography

Why I selected my chosen brief ?

After deliberation i decided that a print based advertising campaign for a new product such as a new clothing range including two full magazine advertisements and a billboard poster using original photography would be the best option for me as audio & website based ideas were not an option for me due to the available resources and skill i have to succesfully complete this task, not only this but my knowledge and interest in these two options werent as strong as the others. Definatly a print based production brief was of interest to me due to the background knowledge i already have in that area as well as the resources and skill i have. From this i came to the decision that a print based brief would be most appropriate as it is the least technical and complicated yet with the skill + equipment i could create a successful brief.

What elements of my brief will involve:

• A brand name and design - elements include using photoshop to create a new brand name
• A product to sell and to base the campaign around - elements include a product that doesnt have copyright, new to the market
• A two full page magazine advertisement - elements include original photography and layout
• A billboard poster - elements include original photography, editing and layout

Week One Questions

What was your initial response to the production Briefs?

My initial response to the Briefs where immediately that Audio + Website based ideas were not an option due to the resources I have to complete available to produce this and the skills of successfully completing it, not only this but my knowledge and interest in these two options weren’t as strong as the others. Definatly a print-based or video production portfolio was of interest to me due to the background knowledge I already have in those areas as well as the resources and skill I have in having a good camera to take successful shots. I finally came to the decision that a print based portfolio would be the most appropriate as was the least technical and complicated yet with the skills and equipment I have a print based portfolio could be successful.

Creating your shortlist: what was your decision and why?

After deliberation I decided that a print based advertising campaign for a new product, such as a new clothing range including two full magazine advertisements and a billboard poster using original photography would be the best option for me.
